Happy Yalda Night! Wishing you light, joy, and peace. Shab-e Yalda (Night of Yalda) is one of the most favorite celebrations in Persian culture. It falls on the winter solstice, symbolizing the ancient belief in the victory of light over darkness. As autumn ends and winter begins, Iranians around the world gather with family and friends to welcome the rebirth of the sun and the promise of longer days.
The traditional Yalda sofreh includes pomegranates, watermelon, persimmons, dried fruits, ajil, and plenty of hot chai. Many households prepare Ash-e Reshteh (noodle soup), Ash-e Anar (pomegranate soup), and fesenjoon.
Reciting poems from Divan-e Hafez is one of the rituals of Shab-e Yalda
I've posted this year's Yalda picture along with some favorites from previous years.
